All the latest kitty content: mischief, adventures, and happenings

Is kitty a mathematician, looking for some pets, or just really likes messing with loose paper? Kitty has been coding and learning python in the morning before school on a Ti nspire cxii. I’m not sure how much work she’s actually doing but they’ve managed to do some pretty cool coding. Today they started working on programing a hangman game!

Kitty is easily entertained. The other night we put a section of newspaper on the floor, curious to see what type of reaction that might get. Hours of fun. Perhaps too much fun. We heard kitty all night long very actively reading the newspaper.
Kitty seemed interested in the Amazon envelope. I figured why not, but thought this couldn’t possibly be interesting. I was wrong. For kitty the Amazon envelope was both a hideout and something to launch an attack on. It was interesting to her for about an hour.

Kitty is a very talented explorer. Can you find the kitty? Hint, you can only see her ears.

Kitty and dog were mesmerized by the tennis ball as it rebounded off the pitch-back. Neither made a break for it. Probably a good thirty minutes of tennis ball entertainment for both.

Escape kitty. We introduced kitty to our neighbor a few weeks ago. Kitty subsequently has initiated some visits. Every once in a while we find kitty on the other side of the fence looking at our neighbors door. Today she actually houdinied out of her harness to get a closer look. Our neighbor loves cats, so this works out well.

Chipmunktainment
We’ve seen some serious teamwork between the two recently. Not much success but they are keeping the squirrels and chipmunks on their toes. Kitty is especially determined to get the chipmunk. We’ve seen kitty sit on the rock and wait for chipmunk for at least an hour. Kitty sleeping much more through the night!

Kitty walks
Kitty is getting more and more adventurous and willing to go on longer walks. We are now trying to get around the block once a day. Dog is very patient with Kitty. Kitty doesn’t want to be left out of animal chases and seems motivated to keep up with dog on the walks. Today kitty tried to catch a large rabbit hiding in a bush. We think the rabbit would’ve caught kitty. Kitty seemed eager to jump in the messenger bag pictured above. We thought lets try this for a walk. We got down to the end of the street and then kitty decided to walk.

Kitty cubby
Kitty continues to find new sports to chill out, hide, relax, and observe. Couldn’t find kitty the other day. Looked all over. Eventually fond her hiding spot.

Kitty camping?
Kitty likes small spaces. This former stuffy tent was just what kitty was looking for. The dangling ping pong ball was just a cherry on top. Subsequently, we’ve filled kitty’s camping tent with catnip toys. She seems really ready to camp, if only she could tolerate the car.

Kitty coding continued
Kitty continues to express interest in coding. She’s even requested her own iPad. We thought kitty was hard at work on her first python game. Nope, she was watching bird videos on YouTube.

Poppy’s for kitty?
We finally finished a long overdo art project. Kitty appeared to admire the work. Happily she’s not tried climbing the canvas yet.

Major Lazer
Kitty is seriously into the laser. She knows the walls where we typically use it and now periodically attacks the walls without enticement from the laser. We believe she’s actually asking for laser-time as she often gives us a look after attacking the wall, as to say, “laser-time please”. She is very enthusiastic with the laser.

Kitty was exceptionally enthusiastic about wrapping Christmas gifts. As soon as I got the the paper out she was there. She was especially curious about scotch tape for which she seemed to have a love/hate relationship. I’d put a piece of scotch tape sticky side up on the table, which she’d gently paw. It seemed she was playing a game to see if she could touch the tape without it sticking to her paw. The tape always won.

As much as kitty liked wrapping presents, she was even more eager to unwrap presents. She spent a large part of December in and around the Christmas tree, inspecting presents and ornaments . We kept waiting for the tree to topple but kitty seemed to be fairly careful. Nonetheless we were glad to get the tree out of the house.

Sledding Kitty!!! We finally got snow and were pleased to see how stoked kitty was. Despite arctic temps she is at the patio door in the am pushing the dog aside to get out. She seems to like digging/rolling in snow. Olympia thought it would be fun to try her on the sled. I was hesitant. Kitty seemed to enjoy it!

First measurable snow of the year and kitty is pumped.

kitty is more and more interested in playing with dog. Dog is not so interested in playing with kitty. Kitty has gotten good and keep claws in. here she’s even on her back showing some trust with dog. dog however senses it’s a trap.

I did arrange this photo, but neither kitty or dog seemed to mind. They stayed fairly snuggled for most of nap time.

Little did we know, kitty, who now would like to be know as gato, has been secretly studying Spanish alongside boy. Gato’s linguistic prowess was revealed this am as she was caught practicing Spanish on duolingo. Later we thought we heard gato say, “Venga raton, tengo queso para ti”.

Dog fooled by diminutive kitty relented the comfy bench and premium access to the street side window. Dog unaffected by kitty tricks finds luscious ball and squeaks ball loudly and incessantly disrupting kitty’s nap.

Kitty begins careful and gentle negotiations with dog for prime access to street window view of squirrels. Kitty’s persistent paws eventually forced dog to withdraw.

Did kitty really eat the party pack of soft-shell tacos? Were we served cat burritos by the bell? Or with three kids stuffed with tacos did kitty seize the opportunity to make a new home? Happily no soft-shell tacos for kitty and she didn’t come with the meal. She was however very happy about her new cat purse.

Is there a kitty in this picture?

Kitty has been highly successful with securing prime street window viewing positions. She uses many tricks. Here she’s using the old ‘tail tickler’ to dull dogs desire to bark at the squirrels.

Dog has been more successful securing plates to clean taking this job very very seriously. Kitty bravely came in for a sniff of the spotless plate.

Kitty seems to really love tape. She doesn’t miss a change for a piece of tape. All Christmas she was ready to wrap. Amazon return boxes she’s ready to seal shut. Recently I put blue painters tape on the wall where we might widen a couple of doorways. Never expected the thin blue tape to provide so much entertainment for kitty.

We heard some unusual rustling in the bathroom. When we crept up to the bathroom, we saw kitty. Nothing out of the ordinary at first. She was just in one of her usual spots, perched on the side of the tub. In fact it was so unremarkable I turned to head back downstairs, when suddenly I noticed something out of place. I’d left tea tree oil and q-tips in a small duralex shot glass out on the bathroom sink. In a flash I put 2 and 2 together, the q-tip bandit had struck. I assumed this was a one time incident, I mean what type of q-tip fiend only takes one q-tip? Slowly one by one the q-tips disappeared until there was one. We finally caught the q-tip bandit red pawed gleefully swiping the cottony wonder as she accidentally knocked under the bathroom door and reaching in to retrieve it. The duralex shot glass was upright and empty. No more bandit or so we thought. Last night I heard scraping sounds from under the bathroom sink. At first I saw nothing and assumed kitty was on the other side of the wall playing. Then from under the wall hung sink cabinet appear a tail joyfully swinging back and forth. Alarmed and confused I wondered, “Did I not see kitty and lock her in the cabinet drawer?”. Thankfully kitty not inside the cabinet. However, she had located the q-tips home base and was trying to infiltrate. Thankfully q-tips home base is well fortified and not feline friendly.

A while back kitty realized her adored feather tease stick was stored on top of the fridge. Subsequently she’s made a habit of going on top of the fridge to play with it. One night unaware of her coordinates I opened the fridge door. As I started to open the right side fridge door, something didn’t seem right. Sense a stalking I looked up. Kitty was starring down at me. She didn’t seem to want to move from the door, so I proceeded to open it. Kitty seemed undisturbed by the moving mount, perhaps even a bit amused. Recently, she appeared to have different motives, a stealth attack on the lemon juice concentrate. Instead of riding the door as she had recently been doing, kitty remained on the edge of the fridge. She peered down with laser eyes and deep focus. Was it really the lemon juice concentrate she wanted to attack? I didn’t wait to find out. After kitty got her second paw onto the shelf with the lemon juice concentrate I extracted her, as she was on the brink of a full fridge investigation.

We received a mini foam football game for Valentine’s Day. We thought kitty might be interested. Despite the high clawabilty of the spongy ball, kitty showed no interest. This changed the other night when dog started to play with the ball. Not sure if kitty wanted the ball or simply to swipe dog’s tail who was recklessly and intensely playing with ball. Regardless despite the initial sour reaction to the mini football, kitty is now a fan.

Kitty loves the newspaper. She lounges on it regularly. She seems to like the slight warms and softness it adds to the dinning room table. A full paper is best, followed by a section, and last a single sheet. Kitty seems to really like the crossword section. I haven’t seen her fill in any squares and she doesn’t seem to have many ideas for answers, except for ‘meow’ and ‘purrr’. One of these days she’ll be correct. Until then we’ll have to keep telling her, ‘nice try’ and assure her ‘that was a good guess’.

Recently we’ve celebrated a number of birthdays. Kitty believes it is Christmas in Spring. Each time she hears scotch tape she comes trotting on into the room. It seems she can hear scotch tape from a great distance away. I’m not sure if she likes it, but she’s definitely curious about it. I always give her a small piece. First I stick a bit on her fur because she’s very demanding about investigating. She peels it off her fur, it gets stuck on her paw, she pounces on it, tape gets stuck again and so on. Eventually I put the tape on something with the sticky side exposed. She then batts it around a little more before loosing interest. If not the tape the wrapping paper or rather the sound of scissors cutting wrapping paper draws her attention from anywhere. I’m not sure why, other than she appears to love paper.

Kitty appears to really adore dog. Kitty still insists on gently trying to get dog to play, which hasn’t happened. I continue to encourage kitty to snuggle with dog but kitty seems more interested in playing with dog. Last night I tossed a cat toy to dog. Uninterested dog made no attempt at catching cat toy. The toy bounced off dogs head and landed on the couch where dog was laying. Kitty already unsuccessfully having tried to play with dog assumed this was a prefect opportunity to play. Kitty confidently leapt onto the couch and began to play with cat toy.

Is kitty preparing for Space X? Perhaps a mini single cat subarmine? Alas it is just a backpack with an awesome perch for a pet. Kitty loves the new backpack. She seems to know the work walk! She and dog are now going on walks together! We’ve been taking kitty on longer and longer walks. She appears alert and interested in all the sounds, animals, and new places. We’ve all enjoyed taking her out for walks.

Kitty has been busy recently. Hard to keep up really. Recently discovered her love of picnics and chairs. Kitty is eager to keep your seat warm and reluctant to give it back once you return. We didn’t realize how into picnics she was. No food for her, just there to socialize.

Where’s kitty? Is that a stuffy or a kitty? Ok not super hard to distinguish but her snuggling with the stuffs is pretty cute. Stuffie snuggling has become a nearly daily routine. Interestingly enough she only seems like certain stuffies.

She hasn’t fallen yet. We are however, a bit concerned with her overconfidence. While not pictured here, she’s dangled up to two paws while sleeping on the railing.

kitty is keeping herself in shape. ladder sprints. rail climbs. screen climbing.

dog is not impressed with kitty’s attempt of chasing squirrel up the tree. It took me a second to realize what was going on and that she was also now stuck. dog was even less wowed by kitty’s second attempt at chasing squirrel up the tree and second 911 call.

we found kitty snuggled into a washcloth on the floor. we’d put the washcloth there because of Minisplit ac leak. Other small pleasures have recently included sponges. Nearly every morning we are finding at least one kitchen sink sponge on the floor. We’ve not seen her playing with them.

kitty is extremely into her backpack and shockingly brave when inside. she is eager to go on walks and climbs in on her own! We’ve walked her a long distance without much fuss, even down to the vet!
